In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, I’ll guide you step-by-step through creating your very own single-page website and will be right there to help if you get stuck.

Why Squarespace?

Great question! The short answer is that it’s the most user-friendly option out there for those looking for a personal brand or service provider website.

PLUS, Squarespace websites are…

  • Fully customizable

  • Mobile-friendly

  • SEO Optimized (aka search engine friendly)

Why not….

  • If you’re creating an online store, Shopify is definitely the option we recommend. As an eCommerce-first platform, it’s the best option out there.

    But if you’re a service provider or your actual product sales go through your company’s website, Squarespace is the better option.

    When in doubt, get in touch and we’ll let you know what we recommend.

  • There’s no doubt about it, you can make a beautiful website in ShowIt. But the learning curve is much steeper than Squarespace.

    Since the latest version of Squarespace allows you to create designs very similar to what’s available with ShowIt, I don’t recommend ShowIt unless you’re ready to have to learn a lot to get your website up and running.

  • Ugh. Don’t even get me started. And please, please, please don’t let anyone convince you that you need WordPress.

    It’s very rare that someone needs the headache that is WordPress. I always say, “WordPress was designed by developers, for developers, to put money in developers pockets” because it literally makes even the most simple of tasks ridiculously hard.

  • Ok, so here’s the deal. Wix becomes a headache really quickly because it’s not truly mobile-friendly and because it simply isn’t as user-friendly as Squarespace.

    While it starts out “free,” the amount of add ons they’ll sell you will quickly make it a very expensive option as you grow.

    Plus, it allows (and even sometimes encourages) users to create designs that are flat-out awful, not because they mean to but because the platform is wonky.

Hey, I'm Emily

I’ve been designing and developing websites since 2010 and am passionate about empowering small business owners (like you!) with websites they can successfully operate on their own.

Unlike a lot of designers, I prefer to have my clients update their own websites at the level that they want to. And so, The Website Workshop was born!

A few fun facts about me…

→ I’ve been married to my husband for 18 years.

→ We have two teen daughters whom we homeschool.

→ I was born in Portland, raised south of Seattle, spent most of my adult life back in Portland and have lived in Boise since 2017.

→ I’m an avid reader who always has multiple books that I’m in the middle of reading.

→ The kitchen in our branding photos isn’t our kitchen…you’ll see the real thing when you come for your workshop.

Have questions?

I have answers…

  • I’ll send you prep work after you sign up that will go into more detail but you’ll want to have at least one headshot (preferably at least two).

    Everything else your prep work will walk you through creating.

  • While they aren’t required, professional headshots go a long way toward making your website feel both personal and professional. I’d recommend having at least one headshot (preferably two or more).

  • Only $497. The small group format of this workshop allows me to offer a more affordable solution to my one-on-one services while still giving you all the hands-on support you need as you DIY.

  • All you’ll need is a laptop with Wi-Fi capabilities and to have completed your Prep Work before the workshop.

  • Just 6. I’m intentionally keeping these workshops small and intimate to allow me to truly be hands-on in my assistance while also providing a group atmosphere for camaraderie (and a more affordable price point 😉).

  • This is a live, in-person workshop that will be held in my home. You’ll get to sit around my kitchen table as we create your website together.
